Who's coming into your garden

A qualified, experienced team with a wide range of skills: nine years in horticulture, a Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Horticulture and a City & Guilds PA1/PA6 spraying certificate. The business started in 2020 with a second-hand 4x4, second-hand tools and a Facebook post.

Scarifying, aeration, tidy-ups and bed work are estimated once we've seen the garden.

  • Every price is an estimate before we start. Gardens can hide more than they show, so if the work turns out bigger once we begin, the final price can change.
  • Paid on completion, by cash or bank transfer. No deposits.
  • Fuel is charged on every job, worked out by mileage.
  • Not happy with something? Say so, and we come back and put it right.

Chapter IIIHedges

A good hedge frames the whole garden. We cut it to the shape that suits it, flat and straight, rounded or shaped, and at the right time of year.

Why autumn and winter

Birds left in peace

Protecting nature is at the heart of what we do. Damaging an active nest is against the law in Scotland, so heavy cuts happen outside the nesting season, every hedge is checked before we start, and a nest is always left as it is.

Thicker growth in spring

A tidy cut in the dormant season sets a hedge up for a dense, lush flush when the weather warms up.

Healthier plants

Taking out dead, diseased or damaged wood stops rot and fungal infection taking hold over winter.

A truer shape

With growth slowed for winter, and the leaves off hedges like hawthorn, we can see the hedge's real structure and cut it perfectly even.

Rakes out the layer of dead moss and thatch, so the grass has room to thrive.

When to book

Scarifying and aerating are best done in autumn or early spring, while the grass can recover.

Hedges
Kieran and Amir did a brilliant job of cutting and shaping all my perimeter mixed hedges. As they had to travel a fair distance, and the work was weather dependent, Kieran kept me well informed of their proposed schedule. They arrived promptly at 08:30 and worked steadily and efficiently till they completed their task mid afternoon. This is the second season Kieran has transformed my garden. Highly recommended.
